Skin Cleanser 101: Finding the right facial cleanser for you

For me, the most essential part of any skin care regimen is cleansing. Our day starts with washing off our face, which is repeated right after we sleep. It is very important to wash the dirt and debris away to unclog our pores and keep the nasty skin infection (usually in form of zits) at bay.
So, what’s the perfect skin cleanser for you? Well, choosing cleansers that’ll perfectly suit your skin depends on your skin type. For those with dry complexions, a creamy cleanser will do wonders for your skin giving the ample moisture it deserves. An oil-free, gel-type cleanser is best for those with oily skin; add some skin clearing properties like benzoyl peroxide, AHA/glycolic acid or salicylic acid if you’re acne-prone. It’s highly recommended to use mild, alcohol-free cleansers for those with sensitive skin. For hot, tropical climates, choose a sudsy cleanser to thoroughly remove all the dirt and gunk off your face. Cleansers with microbeads (so-called cleansing scrubs/scrubs) must be used at least twice a week to exfoliate the skin and buff away impurities which are commonly known as dead skin cells.
Skin cleansers shouldn’t be left behind in your closet. Skipping this primordial step to healthy skin will cause devastating results to it! Your skin will wreak massive breakouts, rough and sallow complexion and premature wrinkles once you do not religiously make it a routine. So, better grab yourself one today, or say sorry! There are so many skincare brands popping out like mushrooms today, here’s our top picks that may guarantee you clean and clear skin. Or better yet, consult a dermatologist to know exactly which brand/kind of cleanser is right for you.
Obagi Nu-Derm Foaming Gel (part of the Obagi Nu-Derm set) is highly-acclaimed by many Obagi users as the gentlest facial wash. If you’re of sensitive type, this facial wash is right for you, though it also comes with a hefty price tag. It has two variants: one for normal-to-oily and the other for normal-to-try. It’s a soap-free cleanser that gently removes impurities, oil and makeup to leave skin clean, fresh and ready for toning. (obagi.com)
Shu Uemura High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil Enriched is a two-in-one cleanser and makeup remover that uses the finest form of oil to seethe into the skin as it deeply cleanses and removes even the most stubborn (waterproof) makeup without stripping skin of its natural oil. It contains avocado oil for extra moisture and nourishment and bitter orange peel extract to help brighten the skin. Perfect for dry skin types. (shuuemura-usa.com)
Nu Skin 180° Face Wash is amped with 10% vitamin C, making it one unique facial cleanser. A consultant tells me that it’s the healthiest facial wash available in the market, since this ample dose of Vitamin C not only cleanses and brightens, but it also prevents the skin from premature signs of aging. It targets age spots and discoloration while supports collagen production to diminish wrinkles and firm the skin. (nuskin.com)

I’m still trying to find the perfect cleanser. Mine range from good old Cetaphil to the La Mer gel cleanser - I love the scent.
Cetaphil is such a steal! It’s a gentle cleanser that also acts as a makeup remover. La Mer is worth the splurge since it provides you all the moisturizing nutrients you need.
I like SpectroGel which is just ike Cetaphil apparently… and it’s all I’ve used for years. It ain’t sexy, but it works!
