Image courtesy of drugstore.comFor people like me who cowers on painful leg waxing procedure and frowns upon the aftereffects of shaving, hair bleaching is the only last resort. I’m a bit sensitive to pain even after taking loads of Mefenamic acid (oral painkillers) to mitigate the annoying feeling. Waxing at a salon regularly can also be expensive and time-consuming, and I can’t bear the idea of painstakingly tweezing my hair one-by-one ‘coz that’ll be torture! Shaving can be as easy as 1-2-3, but I don’t want to wail after seeing my legs teemed with stubbier, coarser hair like men’s.

Since Sally Hansen is one of world’s trusted brands when it comes to hair removal and stuff, I picked one among its three hair bleaching variants. I got myself Sally Hansen Fast and Gentle Cream Hair Bleach for Face.

I have gotten this hairy portion of my right leg since I was little. It was a bit coarse and quite noticeable from afar as if it’s a birthmark. Upon growing up, that hairy portion became a little less conspicuous, although the thought of noticing the hairy area itself scares me. It kinda curbs me from donning shorts or flaunting my bikini. :P

Sally Hansen Fast and Gentle Cream Hair Bleach for Face is actually a hair bleaching set composed of a tub of almond-scented hair bleach, a vial of powdery baking soda activator (it has a nauseating, caustic smell so don’t bother to sniff this), a small spatula and a small square mixing tray. Instructions are found on the product’s leaflet and on the Sally Hansen website.

Since I want them almost invisible sans waxing or shaving, I put a generous amount of the bleaching cream and baking soda activator mixture and left it for about 8 minutes. I considered bleaching both legs lest they might look odd if I’d only try to bleach the specific hairy portion. I immediately washed it off and voila—my gams are almost virtually hair-free!

I noticed that the hair color became blondish of some sort. I also noticed that it has gone thinned that’s why it was almost “not there”. Hence, there were some strands that are tad noticeable, so I resolved to bleach it after few weeks. Or, I may just try to grab the Extra Strength Crème Hair Bleach for Face and Body next time!

Note: You can use this product to bleach dark eyebrows, too!

I’ve been using this since forever! Although I haven’t seen a Sally Hansen one in years! I use Walgreens which I have my aunt buy for me in the US. Good thing there’s another brand that’s being sold in Beauty Bar.

That’s so great! I remember asking the BM of Sally Hansen years ago - and she told me that they didn’t sell it anymore because of the country’s tropical weather! I think there’s an effect on the powders..
